Trevor Twining's Twitter Travels
Wed, 2007-11-14 16:03 — trevortwiningI just made the leap into Twitter and I couldn’t help but notice the alliteration.
I suppose it just had to be done. Try saying that five times fast.
Server rebuild complete
Sun, 2007-06-17 10:59 — trevortwiningWell now that you're seeing this post it means that my server rebuild is complete. I wiped away three years of cruft and clutter and now up and running with a fresh install. People should notice some performance improvements, but the real advantage to me is that the system is again organized and clutter-free.
Canadian Budget Cuts to Adult Literacy...Uncertain Impact
Tue, 2006-09-26 13:49 — trevortwiningJust received word this morning that the Conservative government here in Canada has cut funding to adult literacy programs to the tune of around $17 million.
I can’t find any details yet on what programs will be affected, but I have to imagine we’ll see some fallout at Literacy Link Niagara.
I’m reviewing the budget to see if I can find any more detail, and will post again when I know more, see links, etc.
*UPDATE:* First contacts at the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development indicate they aren’t aware what programs are being cut yet. It’s likely that they’ve just been given the mandate to cut a certain amount and let the secretariat decide where that should be. My guess is that just about everything is up for discussion. A list of services offered federally is linked below.
